SHRIGLEY Hall Hotel & Spa is enjoying a bright and successful 2019 with initiatives led by their new owners Prahi.
Shrigley Marketing Manager Tim Hudspith said: “The new owners have identified the potential and importance of driving golf to attract both the local golfing community to the venue along with society, residential and corporate groups to enjoy the facilities.
“The course is a major asset and it is a facility that requires on-going focus and attention and therefore a brand new fleet of Toro machinery, investment in the team, products and course aesthetics are priorities.
“Our new head green keeper Ben Evans has made an impact with a fresh view of the course and how it can be presented in an improved fashion for all golfers with attention to details and the most important feature being the greens.
“We have a new finish to the course with the redesigned 17th and 18th holes and improved clubhouse facilities.”
Ben Evans said: “I hope we can jump-start a revival at Shrigley over the next few years! “I became HGK at Shrigley Hall recently, having previously worked at Wilmslow and Stockport and before that spending a year in the USA as part of the Ohio international programme via Mike O’Keeffe.
“It was a life changing opportunity working the US Women’s Open, Phoenix Open and at a high-end members Club- I gained much insight into how courses are managed at the highest end.
“I started work at Shrigley Hall 2013 as a gardener and would like to thank the previous HGK Paul – because without him I wouldn’t be doing the job I love today!
“Moving forward I would like to (with the help of investment from new owners) improve the year round playability of Shrigley, with more golf-focused green keeping practices and raising standards to meet the potential of the course. “I am also very keen on traditional green keeping reducing nutrient and pesticide inputs as much as is possible, trying to encourage finer grasses.” Shrigley Captain Peter Cartledge added: “Great things are happening now and for the future of golf at Shrigley Hall.
“It started with the appointment of Ben, who has made a significant improvement in the conditions and maintenance of the course.
“Our recent New Owners are like breath of fresh air, they are creating a positive environment within the whole Shrigley Hall complex through good management style and long-term investment planning.
“The latest example of this being the purchase of a complete new fleet of golf course maintenance equipment and at last we feel the potential for the Shrigley Hall Golf Course to become one of the top courses in Cheshire will soon be a reality.”
