For most players, one round at Shrigley Hall Hotel’s golf course is enough to whet the appetite for more. So we make it easy to enjoy its golfing challenges – and spectacular views – on a regular basis, by offering a range of membership options. Shrigley Hall Hotel offers a very friendly and welcoming membership, with a busy competition calendar and a range of social events throughout the year. As a full member, you’ll also enjoy preferential rates throughout the rest of the hotel. Comprehensive information below:
Do I have to be proposed to join?
No. Simply complete the application form, settle your fee and you are free to play
Is there a joining fee?
No.
Can I pay by direct debit?
Yes. The payments will leave your account on the 1st day of each month. Please be aware that the membership is a 12 month commitment.
When does the membership year start and end?
1st May. Therefore, if you join before or after this date, you will pay on a pro-rata basis and subsequently pay the full amount come the 1st of May should you wish to re-join.
What are the current rates (as of January 2021)?
A discount applies for members that pay the full 12 months in one transaction

How do I book tee times?
The BRS tee booking system is a live tee sheet that allows you to book yourself a general play tee time and also to enter into the club competitions. Tee times can be booked 31 days in advance; competition entry is open up to 12 hours before the event. We do ask that if you need to cancel a tee time in a competition, you inform the Golf Shop staff. This way we can avoid members being left without a game.
How do I obtain a handicap?
By returning three scorecards marked by a Shrigley Hall golf member who possesses a current handicap. The third card must be completed in a club competition and marked by separate individuals to the previous cards. If you currently possess a valid handicap, simply ask your existing club to forward the relevant documentation.
How often do you hold competitions?
We stage a seniors’ competition every Monday, a roll up every Wednesday afternoon/evening in the summer, a stableford every Thursday, and a weekend competition every Saturday or Sunday. In addition, regular club matches, both on a friendly basis and in a league are scheduled. Participation in competitions is entirely optional, but is a great way to improve your game and to meet new members.
Do I receive a membership card?
Yes. The card should be kept with you and be available for inspection when visiting Shrigley Hall Hotel and the other venues where reciprocal golf is available. Plus, in order to receive your 25% food & beverage discount here at the hotel, you must have this to hand.
How do I book golf lessons?
Anthony Herbert, our PGA Professional is on hand to offer tuition to all levels of golfer. A number of packages are available and can be tailored to the needs of the customer. All lessons are to be booked in advance.
How do I find out about what’s happening at Shrigley Hall Hotel Golf Club?
Our information board is located outside the Golf Shop and the locker rooms. Tournament results, course reports, promotions and a host of additional information, is displayed. Please cast your eyes over it if you wish to be kept up to date. In addition, you can provide your email address to receive regular email communication about upcoming events, results and latest news. Your details won’t be provided to any third parties, it is simply to keep you up to date.
Are there any additional benefits by becoming a member at Shrigley Hall Hotel Golf Club?

Is there a Captain and Committee at Shrigley Hall?
Yes. The Club Committee meet on a monthly basis.
What practice facilities are available?
There is a 250 yard practice area, with various flagged targets and a practice bunker. Also recently opened is a superb 6 hole, par 3 academy course – perfect for practising that all important short game This area requires members to use and collect their own golf balls; please be aware of other golfers collecting golf balls whilst using this facility.
Are changing facilities available?
Changing rooms and shower facilities are available for use. Towels for the showers are stored in the golf bar, please ask a member of staff if you require one. All lockers are cleared on a daily basis and clubs are not permitted to be stored in the bag store overnight.
What is the procedure for play when arriving at the venue?
All golfers are to check in at the Golf Shop.
What do I do if I need to cancel a tee time?
Ring the Golf Shop as soon as possible in order to give other golfers the opportunity to play. Please note that a Member who continually fails to play on a pre-booked tee time will be suspended for a period of six weeks.
What options do I have if the course is completely booked out?
On rare occasions, the course can be completely full due to visiting parties. We currently have a reciprocal arrangement with both Mottram Hall and The Tytherington Club, where a tee time can be secured, subject to availability. All bookings must be made via the Golf Shop here at Shrigley Hall Hotel, and your membership card must be taken for identification purposes.
What do I do now?
If you do not already have an application form and direct debit form (if applicable), please contact us to supply them. Once completed and returned with the relevant payment, your membership will begin.
